- Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
- Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.
- Analyzes, diagnosis, and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, which includes routine maintenance on aviation ground support vehicles, POL equipment, and their sub-systems.
- Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air.
- Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
- Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories.
- Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications.
- Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards, and regulations.
- Prepares GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
- Operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles.
- In addition to maintaining vehicle records, maintains, and updates paper and electronic equipment records.
- Provides dispatch services for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations, practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.
- Perform routine maintenance on the aviation ground support vehicles, POL equipment, and their sub-systems.
- Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul all types of diesel and gasoline engines.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with related departments, trades prior to starting work on GSE or POL equipment when it is expected to be out of service for extended periods.
- Perform material requests as required for GSE-POL maintenance.
- Able to work unsupervised at remote sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform on the job training, assist, and advise the host nation GSE-POL mechanic in all daily maintenance activities.
- Assist the host nation mechanic to establish, implement, and maintain the maintenance program of the Ground Support and POL equipment.
- Ensure host nation mechanic properly complete forms and records related with the GSE and POL equipment maintenance.
- Train, assist, and monitor the host nation mechanic on the proper use of all types of ground support equipment and POL equipment.
- Must have completed an apprenticeship and or formal training as a GSE Mechanic.
- Position requires a U.S. Department of State Moderate Risk Public Trust MRPT or Embassy background check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Flight Line Drivers License.
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend Level II English.
- Previous OCONUS Experience.
- Average computer skills.
- Good trouble shooting skills.
- Basic or Higher welding skills.
- Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant certifications.
- Hazmat certifications
- Ability to pass physical screening
- Passport with 18 months remaining
